Screenshots of creating both animations on Aftereffects.
Firstly for the stickman I used illustrator by creating a new document and making sure the New document file was set to ‘Video and Film’. The size PAL D1/DV Widescreen then press OK. Once the stickman was created used the shape and line tool and increasing the thickness of the stroke, I selected it all and went Object > Expand. Then I saved it.
Next open up aftereffects and import the stickman. I had to make sure it was imported as ‘composition retain layer size’. Then once opened go to composition settings to change the colour so the stickman could be seen, as it was black on a black background. The next thing was to smooth the outline of the stickman by clicking on the rasterise ‘sun’ icon next to the stickman name in the composition feature. Then using the puppet pin tool I could set up pins on the stickman to pivot different parts. As shown from the screenshots I put pins on the end of the arms and legs and on the head. Then on the composition feature on the bottom left I clicked on the arrow to drop down the different features, then dropping down another feature to show each of the pins. Then on the timeline I could move the red line across and then I could move the pins in different positions and then once it was played back it would animate.
For the ‘Hello’ animation I created a text layer by clicking on the text icon on the top of the screen. Then on the composition feature I checked the 3D icon so that I could move the word in the X, Y and Z axis to make it move 3D. I played around with this including lots of keyframes over time and selecting these different options and also the orientation. In the end I made it move around the screen view really fast rotating, almost like a butterfly. When I rendered this one out it was rendered with transparency so some of the output settings were changed.
